StudyCast
While teaching 5th grade, Brent created what he called StudyCasts, podcast episodes created to help his students review for their Social Studies and Science tests. Basically, a StudyCast was an audio review session recorded by Brent for his students where he audibly reviewed the notes from class, adding in some of the stories or examples that may have been shared in class but didn't necessarily make it into the notes. These broadcasts were not intended to replace traditional studying but rather to provide an additional way for students to review the material. Brent's students could listen on his classroom website, their iPods, or even burn the episode onto a CD to listen in the car. Yes, you read that correctly. Those words were iPod and CD. Remember, this was way back in 2010. But the concept has never been more relevant! Students are seemingly always on their phones, so why not turn those phones into study tools?
