What's in a Name?

What's in a name? This is an expression we've all heard before, but what's the answer? Are names important? In this fourth video of my "What I've Learned" series, I share two of my experiences, one from a teacher's perspective and one from an administrator's point of view. Through these short stories, you'll see that a person's name isn't just important, it's powerful.

If you haven't yet watched the first three videos in the series, you can do so by visiting the "What I've Learned" page. If you've already seen them, I welcome your feedback.

That was great, Brent! Your first story had me in tears as I have been there, done that!
What you said is SO true! My former students who are now in Jr. high and high school especially love it when I remember their names. I've had students actually, say, "Wow, you remember me?" Their faces just light up when I actually do!

Thanks for the comment, Linda! I agree - seeing a former student's face light up when you remember his/her name is priceless. :-)

I went back to visit my elementary school after college and found a few teachers that taught me were still teaching there. And one of the school counselors still remember my name and my guardian's name and it has been almost 20 years. It just made my day!
